Tips to Get Organized in 2021

Tips to Get Organized in 2021

It’s officially a new year—and now is a great time to get a jumpstart on projects that have been sitting on the back burner. If you’ve been meaning to get organized (or you’ve been meaning to clean out your garage, home office, pantry and/or closets), we have some tips for that. Below are just a few of the ways you can get (and stay) organized in 2021.

Embrace the rainbow

Are you happy with the state of your closets? When you’re looking for a specific item of clothing—can you find it easily or do you need to hunt for it? If your closets aren’t as organized as you’d like, it may be time to develop a system.

One of the easiest and most functional ways to organize your closet is to organize your clothes by type and color. For example, put dresses in one section, t-shirts in another, and so on and so forth. Once you’ve established sections, organize your clothes according to the rainbow— starting with red and ending with black and white.  Not only will this help you find clothing items quickly, organizing by rainbow is aesthetically pleasing.

Make sure your kitchen cabinets are functional

Moving onto your kitchen, does everything feel like it’s where it needs to be? Namely, are frequently used items in a place where you can get to them quickly? If not, it might be time to reorganize your cabinets. Make sure your plates, cups, and coffee mugs are in an easy-to-reach place. Other items, such as extra marinara sauce, pasta, rice, and canned goods, can be stored on higher shelves in your pantry (or in harder-to-reach kitchen cabinets.)  If you cook frequently and you have lots of oils and spices, consider organizing them on a lazy Susan. Not only will this make your spice cabinet look less cluttered, it will save you from needing to pull everything out when you need a jar that’s in the back.

Hire a home watch service

Maintaining multiple households can be hard. If you’re a part-time snowbird who needs help maintaining a SWFL vacation property, we can help. When you hire a home watch professional you’ll be working with a trusted professional who will be your eyes and ears on the ground. If a pipe bursts, your pool filter breaks, or your roof gets damaged in a windstorm, we’ll notify you immediately.
