3 Upgrades to Make to Your Luxury Home in 2017

home upgrades

2016 is drawing to a close, and while we look forward the holidays, we also look forward to a new year and the possibilities it can bring.

If you’re thinking about upgrading your home, now is actually a great time to start planning. We work with many homeowners in the Fort Myers area and have learned which home upgrades these owners want after the new year.

And, some of our clients are even planning on selling, which means they’re putting one eye to what buyers are looking for in a competitive market.

Here are three home upgrades you can make in 2017 that will not only increase your enjoyment of your property, but will also make it more enticing to buyers should you go to sell.

Outdoor Kitchen

Many homes in Southwest Florida have patios, pools, and lanais, but what some are missing is something that really raises eyebrows: an outdoor kitchen.

An outdoor kitchen can be something as basic as a built-in grill with counter space, or something more elaborate with lighting, a stove top, a refrigerator and/or wine cooler, seating space, and other accouterments that you would typically find in an indoor kitchen.

If you love entertaining, you and your guests will love having an outdoor kitchen. It stands out on a listing, and it’s something that’ll make guests want to come to your house for get-togethers. Outdoor kitchens can be pricey, but you can get a great space together for less than you think.

Wet Bar

Another feature – again, one geared toward entertaining (notice a theme?) – is a wet bar.

A wet bar is a bar built to serve drinks that has running water and a sink. These can be found anywhere, although they’re usually in a living room/great room or den. They can also be in a kitchen, and are also found outdoors near the pool area.

Wet bars are in vogue now. More and more homeowners are adding them to their homes. They do require some work, but they are less expensive to install than an outdoor kitchen.

Built-in Home Control System

Finally, you can really add the wow factor to your home by installing a built-in home control system.

Systems today are pretty complex and capable. By just using a tablet or a smartphone, you can control appliances, the temperature and humidity, whether your shutters are opened or closed, locks on doors and windows, security systems, TV, a built-in sound system, garage doors, overhead lighting, and more.

It’s amazing what you can do with technology these days. A built-in home control system is a really cool feature for any home.

There are plenty of other upgrades you can make. If you want help making these or any others, let us help you make arrangements with trusted contractors to get it done.
